Using shading to enhance drawings

Demonstrate and practice using graphite pencils to shade 3D drawings. Shadows may also be applied.

Graphite pencils.  Worksheets with shapes to be shaded. Visualiser used to demonstrate techniques.

Shaded drawings which have a 3D look. An understanding and improved skill of how to enhance drawings by shading

Use of colour to enhance presentation drawings.

Demonstrate and practice using colour pencils to shade 3D drawings.

Colour also used to high- light by shading the background.

Colour pencils, range of sheets with shapes to be shaded.

Shaded drawings which have a 3D look. An understanding and improved skill of how to enhance drawings by using colour.

Enhancing presentation drawings.

Demonstration of how to apply shade and highlights to drawings of products.  Students practice theses techniques.

Graphics equipment.  Drawings of hairdryers, drills, cameras, cars etc.

A series of drawings which have been shaded and rendered to enhance their presentation and 3D appearance.

Quality of finished sheets.  The sheets will be displayed in the room.
