This Snakes and Ladders game is made using alternate coloured blocks of wood. (Beech and Iroko).

The numbers have been engraved using the laser cutter from a design produced in Techsoft 2D Design.

The whole piece of work is well finished by hand and sealed using Danish oil.

Level 7 work

This game is known by many names - Wori and Mancala being amongst the most common. Nuts or stones are normally used for the pieces but here the student has chosen to use pieces of dowel.

The board has been made from a piece of mahogany hinged at the centre join. The holes were produced using a forstner bit. Acrylic Varnish was used to seal and enhance the the wood.

The game is well designed using a range of techniques and it functions as intended. The finish is good and the product is of saleable quality.

Level 7 work

This wooden box is rebated together. The drawer is used to store the pieces which have been made using a plug cutter. The board itself has been designed and printed using wood grain textures.

The overall finish is good and the product is of saleable quality.

Level 6 work

The chess game is made using the laser cutter to cut and engrave the pieces. The acrylic board is also laser engraved.

The box is simply jointed and finished using acrylic paint and varnishes. It is an effective design but simple.

Level 5 work

The draughts pieces are made using a plug cutter then sanded to improve the finish.

The box is simply jointed with a lift out lid which fits accurately.

The board is designed using wood textures and then laser printed. The overall accuracy and finish is good.

Level 6 work

This project includes a draughts board on the lid and a set of Jenga blocks inside.

The blocks are painted MDF. The board is laser printed.

The overall finish is reasonable, more time preparing the surfaces before painting would have improved the final finish.

Level 5 work

This chess board and box is largely hand made. The box has mitre joints and simple comb joints. The board is made from wood blocks glued to an MDF base.

The pieces have been designed in 2D Design and then laser cut and engraved.

The overall finish is good although there is an error on the size of the lid.

Level 7 work

A well finished box with an acrylic swiveling lid. The board is made from wood blocks glued to an MDF base.

The pieces are made from MDF squares sanded and painted.

Level 6 work

A well made box containing the Jenga blocks as well as the draughts pieces.

The board is fixed to the top of the box.

The box is of saleable quality.

Level 6 work

This simple game involve three pieces and a 6 X 7 board. The board is laser printed. The box is simply jointed and the accuracy and overall finish are good.
