A trebuchet is an ancient war machine used to hurl large objects at the enemy during war. It could be used to knock down city or castle walls but was also used to hurl animal carcases over the walls to spread disease.

Building working models of war machines combines knowledge of materials, mechanisms, physics and maths as well as history - a good project for Design & Technology students.
